Ruby Watta Obituary

Ruby Jones Watta, age 84, of Easley, South Carolina, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Born on June 16, 1941, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Thomas and Bessie Jones. Ruby dedicated her professional life to the field of technology as a computer programmer, retiring from the Metropolitan Life Computer Center. She enjoyed volunteering in her community, with the Crisis Hotline of Greenville and delivering meals with Meals on Wheels. She was a faithful member of the Baptist faith and cherished her Christian beliefs. Throughout her life, Ruby was known for her love of dance, which brought joy not only to her but also to those around her. Her legacy will live on through her beloved family, which includes her son, Bobby Roach, Jr (Susan) of Easley, SC; her daughter, Kelly Cartee of Travelers Rest, SC; grandsons, Kyle Cartee (Lacey) of Greenville, SC and Jonathan Roach of Easley, SC; granddaughters, Kristin Suttles (Devan) Greer, SC, Kayla Bishop (Will) of Atlanta, GA, and Catherine Roach, Easley, SC; great-granddaughters, Karsyn Suttles, Sophie Suttles, Chloe Cartee, and Carley Cartee; and sisters, Rosa Huff of Greenville, SC, Mildred Stillwell of Easley, SC, and Bonnie Keller of Easley, SC. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Watta; brother, Alvin Jones; and sister, Betty Huff. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Viva Senior Living Center in Easley, SC, and Agape Hospice Care for their compassionate care and support during Ruby's final days. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel. Entombment will be in Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Greenville at 15 Oregon St., Greenville, SC, 29605, https://mealsonwheelsgreenville.org/, or to Gideons International at PO Box 1625, Easley, SC, 29641, https://gideons.org/ to honor Ruby's passion for service and love for God's word.
