Ronnie Boan Obituary

Ronnie Joe Boan, 81, husband of Sabra Boan, died Saturday, April 26, 2025. Born in Chesterfield, SC, he was the son of the late Freddie and Eva Brock Boan. Ronnie was a US Army Veteran, having served with the Army Security Agency, and retired from Bell South. He loved being outside gardening and hunting. However, he was happiest serving others, whether it was planting gardens for the elderly, helping a stranded motorist, or hosting a barbeque. A gifted woodworker, Ronnie built hundreds of cedar birdhouses placed along interstate highways, which help reestablish the South Carolina Blue Bird population. In addition to his wife of 62 years, left to cherish Ronnie's memory are his son, Jason Boan (Leigh); his daughter, Jillanne Boan; four grandchildren, Olivia Foster, Presleigh Boan, Ellerby Boan, and Buck Boan; and a brother, Reggie Boan. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by two brothers, Levern Boan and Freddie Boan, as well as a sister, Trudy Fulmer. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast with the funeral service to follow at noon in the Chapel. Ronnie will be laid to rest in the M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Home.
