Ron Ballard Obituary

Ron Ballard WOODRUFF- Ronald John "Ron" Ballard,62, of 1241 West Georgia Road passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025, at his home. He was born December 6, 1962, in Spartanburg County to the late John Alfred Ballard and Mary Elizabeth McAbee Ballard Simmons. He was a member of the Woodruff Church of God and was a supervisor with Spartanburg County Parks and Recreation. Ron was an avid lifelong Woodruff Wolverine and Clemson football fan. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and trying out new restaurants. Surviving are his wife Lisa Cope Ballard of the home; two daughters, Christie Davis (Dustin) of Inman and Kayla Knighten (Brandon) of Pacolet; two sons, Matt Ballard (Erica) of Woodruff and Brad Rochester (Chasity) of Union; grandchildren, Damian Ballard, Brianna Sellars, Brandon Sellars, Stormy Davis, Aiden Ballard, Maddison Ballard, Laken Ballard, Bowen Ballard, Christian Rochester, Noah Rochester, Kelci Rochester, Trevor Knighten, Logan Knighten, Aiden Knighten and Payton Knighten; great-grandson, Gunner Rochester. He is also survived by his lifelong friend and brother, Kenneth Hand (Patty) of Lockhart; brother-in-law, Mark Cope of Union and his beloved dog, Koby. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Monte Guffey and Rev. Curtis Terry. Interment will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers, Damian Ballard, Christian Rochester, Noah Rochester, Brandon Sellars, Brandon Knighten and Dustin Davis. Honorary pallbearers, Kenneth Hand, Michael Seay, Mike Richards, Bob Moore, David King, Johnny Peavy and any Spartanburg County Parks and Recreation employees in attendance. The family request that those in attendance at the funeral service wear maroon and gold in support of Ron's love for the Woodruff Wolverines. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.
