Roger Bennett Obituary

Roger Bennett passed away peacefully on Oct 7, 2025, at the age of 78. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence Bennett and Zenobia Hanks Bennett McMakin; one brother, Randy Bennett; and one grandson, Jonathon Bennett. Roger is survived by his wife, Cheryl Brown Bennett; sons, Raymond Bennett (Melinda) and Craig Bennett (Bridget); one grandson, Hudson Bennett; three granddaughters, Emily Matson (Andy), Haley Bennett, Haleigh Taylor; and great granddaughter, Laurel Matson. A man of faith, Roger served generously in various roles within his local church, always offering his time and assistance in places of need. He worked to encourage those in ministry at Reedy River Baptist Church where he was a member for over 50 years. A proud veteran, Roger served four years in the United States Air Force as an air police K9 sentry during the Vietnam conflict. His later professional life centered around the textile industry, followed by general industry recruiting predominantly focused on the Upstate SC area. He loved his family, church, dogs, classic cars, and friends from Parker High School and the larger mill village community. He seldom met a stranger and loved to connect with people about the important things in his life as well as theirs. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, West. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be sent to the Reedy River Baptist Church General Fund.
