Robert Terminato Obituary

Robert "Bob" Terminato, 78, devoted husband of Mary Anne Lupo Terminato, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 17, 2025. Born in Steubenville, OH, he was the son of the late Joseph, Jr., and Phyllis Terminato. Bob found his true love, Mary Anne, through a dating service in March of 1979, and their love story began with a first date at Capri's in Easley. Known for his thoughtful gestures, Bob once sent a dozen red roses to Mary Anne's hotel room while she was at the beach with her family; a heartfelt beginning that would foreshadow many more beautiful moments. In June of 1979, he proclaimed his love boldly with a billboard at the corner of Church Street and Wade Hampton, asking her to be his bride. Within two months, they were married, embarking on a journey of love that spanned over 46 years. Professionally, Bob excelled in advertising, beginning his career with Naegele Outdoor Advertising, which later became Fairway Outdoor Advertising. This position allowed him to come "temporarily" to Greenville, SC. He met Mary Anne here, and he never left. Later, employed by Crossmark, he began creating displays for Bi-Lo grocery stores, where he worked and traveled with his son, Rob, for a few years. Bi-Lo stores were closed, and Robert was then employed by Acosta, creating displays for Publix. He was employed by Acosta at the time of his death. He always said working at Bi-Lo was the best job he ever had. But he had a great time working with his son, again, at Badcock Home Furniture as the "warehouse manager". The end of the workday or week seldom meant the end of his work; because he, like his son and daughter, was always getting involved in some sort of DIY project around the house, whether it was breaking down massive stacks of Amazon shipping boxes or installing a new deck on the house. He loved his family; and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Anne; two adoring children, Linda Terminato Bruce (Ray) and Robert "Rob" Terminato, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Alicia Terminato; four grandchildren, Jefferson, James, Ryland, and Caroline; one great granddaughter, Velma; brothers, Allen (Jackie) and William "Billy" Patterson; brother-in-law, Davis Lupo; and two beloved pups, Bitzy and Panda. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Phillip Patterson. He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church, where he and Mary Anne were married in August of 1979. He taught Sunday School, served on the Church Council, and served as an Usher. He and Mary Anne also served on the Welcome Committee, greeting members and visitors as they entered the building. In his younger years, he acted as Coach for his son's baseball, football, and basketball teams. Even when he stopped coaching, he never missed a game - all the way through high school. Robert loved spending time at Lake Hartwell where several generations of Lupo's and Terminato's have visited and grown up at "The Lake House" for over 60 years. He logged many miles on his electric scooter, speeding around the neighborhood. When he was home, you could always count on "The Lone Ranger" or "Perry Mason" playing on the TV. Watching college football and the NFL will never be the same. He loved the family cats and dogs, and there were many waiting for him on the Rainbow Bridge. He will be missed by all who love him. Visitation will be held at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 1107 S. Main St., Greenville, SC, 29601, on Tuesday, October 28, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. with the service following at Noon. Burial will be at Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29681. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in his memory to Saint Paul United Methodist Church by visiting www.saintpaulgreenville.org/giving.
