Robert Chiesa Obituary

ROBERT ANDREW CHIESA

LATHAM - Robert A. Chiesa, 79, of Latham passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025 at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Catskill on March 25, 1946, he was the son of the late Albert and Catherine (Gazzale) Chiesa.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan, his sons Matthew and Christopher, daughter in law Theresa and five grandchildren Sam, Bella, Anthony, Natalie and Noah. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Barbara) and nephews Paul, Michael, Kenneth.

Bob retired from NYS Dept of Taxation and Finance after a very successful career spanning more than 36 years. A Vietnam era Army veteran he took part erecting a memorial at the Crossing in Colonie where he participated in a Memorial Day ceremony each year. He raised his family in Latham where he coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and CYO basketball. He attended Our Lady of Assumption Church. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching the Yankees and the NY Giants, but most importantly he enjoyed being a father and grandfather and spending time with his family . He loved his grandchildren and attended as many sports and school activities as he could.

The family would like to thank the staff at DCI in Clifton Park and ICU at Samaritan Hospital for the care he received, we would also like to thank Dr. Dhanani.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110. Calling hour will take place at the church one hour prior to the mass. Entombment will follow in the family plot of the St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands,

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110.
