Robert Brown Obituary

Bob, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, passed away on August 24, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on October 5, 1959, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bob lived a life full of honor, laughter, kindness, adventure, and service. He proudly served in the US Air Force for 22 years, followed by a 19 year career at GE Aviation in Cincinnati, followed by GE Power in Greenville where he took an early retirement. But more than titles or accomplishments, Bob's greatest joy was his family, community, faith, and his passions for golf, baseball, cooking and doing anything that took him outdoors. Bob met the love of his life, Diane, while stationed in Germany. Together they built 36 years of marriage filled with devotion, humor, and countless adventures. Their home was always welcoming, filled with love, stories, and the smell of something good cooking. To his children and grandchildren, he was Dad and Poppy- a steady hand, a safe place, a storyteller, and the biggest fan of their dreams. He taught them the importance of several life qualities including putting family first, having patience, the courage to stand by one's convictions and always embracing the opportunity to laugh and live life to the fullest! Bob will always be remembered for his generous heart, quick wit, love of travel, and a way of making everyone feel welcomed and important in his life. His legacy is carried on in the lives of all who knew him. Bob is survived by his father, Frederick R. Brown: his wife, Diane; brother, Douglas Brown; sister, Cheryl Stump; his children, Aric Brown and his wife Emily, Alise Fields and her husband Jesse; and his treasured grandchildren, Walker and Turner Fields. He is reunited in heaven with his mother, Janet L. Brown. Visitation will be be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, with a celebration of his life immediately following at 12:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown in Greenville, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association.
