Rita Maldonado Obituary
Our beloved Rita Carmona Maldonado, was called home after a devastating battle with lung cancer, June 14, 2025. She lived a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and a generous heart. She was compassion personified. Rita was a quiet presence in the greater world, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who love and cared for her deeply. From her family, friends, and even her neighbors, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. She loved her family with her whole heart, and nothing brought her as much happiness as watching her children and grandchildren grow. She was a generous person and tried to help others whenever possible. Here spirit was contagious, she was a child at heart and loved playing, dancing, and exploring the outdoors with her children and grandchildren over the years. She served and greeted many in the Austin community as an employee of Academy Sports for over 40 years. She will be remembered as a loving and doting Wife, Sister, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend and she will be missed every day.
She is preceded in death and is reuniting with her loving husband, Daniel Faz Maldonado; her parents, Zeferino M. Carmona and Guadalupe Cantu; Patricia Moran, Rudy Carmona, Alberto Carmona, Victoria Hernandez, Victor Carmona, Santa Carmona, Ernestine Machado and she is survived by her siblings Francis Diaz, and John Carmona.
She is survived by her loving children, Sylvia Maldonado (Daniel Martinez), Bernice Requejo, and Elaine Torres (Timothy Torres); her grandchildren, Jennifer Foley, Nicole Villanueva (Daniel Villanueva), Ashley Hollingsworth, Daniel Requejo (Chelsea Requejo), Bobbie Requejo, Gabriella Torres, Jazmine Torres, Siann Torres, Mia Torres, Catalina Torres, and Luke Torres; her Great-Grandchildren; Destiny Villegas, Cassidy Foley, Jaden Mairena, and Juniper Villanueva; as well as numerous loving family members and friends.
Visitation was held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, S. 1st St., Austin, Texas, 78745.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 126 W Oltorf St, Austin, TX 78704, on Monday, June 23; interment followed at Assumption Cemetery. She is now at rest with her beloved husband Daniel Maldonado.
