Retta Bennett Obituary

Obituary of Retta Bennett Retta May Burcham Bennett, 82, widow of James Edwin Bennett, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Born in Amelia County, VA, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Elbert Burcham and Cora Anna Easter Burcham. Retta was a member of Center Point Baptist Church where she loved volunteering. She was an avid reader and liked to collect angel figurines. Retta also enjoyed jig-saw and crossword puzzles. Retta is survived by her children, Marvin Wyatt (Vivian) of Maryville, TN; Pam Brown (Chris) of Veteran, WY; Jerry Shelton (Tonya) of Summerville, SC; Matthew Bennett (Tara) of Powder Springs, GA; Stephen Shelton (Denise) of Yancey, NC; and Regina McGugan (Graham) of Chesnee, SC; sixteen grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darryl Wyatt; and four sisters, Algia Midkiff; Juanita Burcham, Naomi White, and Nadine Painter. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Fletcher Funeral Service in Woodruff from 10 – 11 am. A celebration of life will follow beginning at 11 am. Retta will be laid to rest at the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Woodruff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center Point Baptist Church, 1116 Center Point Drive, Moore, SC 29369.
