In Loving Memory of Rebecca Jo Burgin Glance
September 28, 1941 – May 15, 2025
Rebecca Jo Burgin Glance, known as Becky, beloved mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, in Ormond Beach, Florida. She was 83 years old.
Born in Waynesville, North Carolina, to William Hurst Burgin and Beulah Haynes Burgin, Becky, the youngest of eight, grew up with a strong foundation in faith and family-values that guided her throughout her life. A resident of Ormond Beach, Florida, she was known for her deep Christian faith, strong loyalty to her family and friends and a fierce, compassionate prayer warrior. Her Lord and Savior was truly her Rock and her life exemplified her love for Jesus.
Becky lived a life of service, both in her work and in her ministry. She began her career as a bank teller, then a wonderful first grade teacher and eventually partnered with her husband, George (Bud) Glance Jr., in their family construction business. She also performed title work for an RV dealership, bringing the same care, commitment, work ethic and integrity to every role she held.
Her heart, however, was in ministry. Becky sang joyfully in the church choir, taught Sunday School, led young adult Bible studies, mentored teens, and volunteered for numerous church missions and services throughout all the years of her life. She was a humble leader - always willing to listen, pray, and offer a word of encouragement.
Becky cherished her family deeply.
She was an amazing, Godly mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Bea Glance of Daytona Beach, FL; and by her son George Oliver Glance III, daughter-in-law Jane Lambertus Glance, and grandchildren George (Oliver) Glance IV, Theodore (Ted) Jameson Glance, Macy Maddox (Glance) Zimmerman, husband Justin Zimmerman,
and Josephine (Josie or JoJo) Elizabeth Fu Glance-all of Windermere, FL. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were touched by her love and kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on May 23 at 3:00 PM (EST) at Tomoka Christian Church in Ormond Beach, Florida. All who knew and loved Becky are welcome to attend and celebrate her life and victory in Christ.
Her legacy is one of faith, love, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed, and joyfully remembered.
Two of Becky's favorite passages from Scripture reflect the deep and steady faith that guided her life:
"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.'
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord."
