Rachel Crawford Obituary

Rachel Peace Lanford Crawford, 85, of Greer, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born in Greer on July 17, 1940, Rachel was the daughter of the late Connie Pittman Peace and Joel Dean Peace. She was formerly known as Rachel Peace Lanford and was preceded in death by her first husband, Fay L. "Sonny" Lanford Jr. Rachel was a longtime employee of Winn-Dixie, serving over 40 years as their Lead Bookkeeper. She was a dedicated and valued member of her work community, known for her kindness, reliability, and strong work ethic. She was a member of Washington Baptist Church at the time of her passing, and her faith was an important part of her life. Surviving are her loving husband, Larry Crawford; her devoted son, Chris Lanford, and his former wife, Debra Godfrey; and her cherished granddaughters, Kayla Lawson (Drake), Megan Dunton (Cody), and Kendall Lanford. She was a proud great-grandmother to Atlas Rodriguez and Oliver Dunton. Rachel is also survived by her sisters, Sue Hammett (Robert) and Mattie Edens (late husband Pete), and her brother, Maurice Peace (Velia). Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Trent Henson. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary. The family will be receiving visitors at the home, 241 Clearview Circle, Greer, SC 29651. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 123 W Antrim Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 29607 or Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Drive, Landrum, South Carolina 29356 in honor of Rachel's memory.
