Philo Gregory Obituary

Philo Edwin Gregory, III, 96, husband of the late Mary Gregory, entered his Heavenly home on Thursday, August 7, 2025. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Philo, Jr. and Agnes Barker Gregory. Ed was blessed to be married for 60 years to the love of his life, Mary. Their marriage was a union built on deep faith, devotion, and love. A faithful member of Mauldin First Baptist Church, Ed was a strong Christian whose generosity, hard work, and unwavering family values touched countless lives. Known affectionately as the "Candy Man," he had a special love for sharing Werther's candy and was rarely without a piece to share-along with his warm heart. Ed was a man of strong faith, remarkable work ethic, and steadfast devotion to family. If you knew him, you loved him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, love, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Eddie (Shirley) Gregory, Renee (Leslie) Dillard, and Terry (preceded by Luanne) Gregory; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Dennis Gregory. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his five siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mauldin First Baptist Church, 150 S. Main St. Mauldin SC 29662, https://mauldinfirstbaptist.org/. Friends are encouraged to share their favorite of memories of Ed with the family by clicking on the button labeled "Share A Memory".
