Phillip Landel Obituary

Auburn – Phillip Elmer Landel, 86 of Auburn passed away Monday October 6, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born November 30, 1938 in Bryan, Ohio to Elmer Carl and Lucille Bernice (Hepker) Landel. Phillip worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne. He Co-owned and operated 2 businesses in Florida, Moon Lake Mobile Home Sales in New Port Richie and Ruby's Restaurant in Hudson, Florida. He also managed a number of Circle K gas stations and convenience stores in Florida before retiring and moving back to Indiana. He enjoyed sports and was active in the St. Joe Little League in Fort Wayne where he helped to build the baseball diamond there. He loved watching sporting events and playing golf. Phillip married Karen (Karnes) Grimm on July 25, 2009 in Auburn and she survives. He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip "Rocky" Landel II and his wife Wendy of Springhill, Florida; Sister, Joann Linder of Hicksville, Ohio and a grandson Matthew Landel of Springhill, Florida; 3 step children, Joel Grimm and his wife Jerilyn of Auburn, Peter Grimm of Auburn and Sarah Patrick and her husband Jason of Hicksville, Ohio; 12 step grandchildren and 24 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Carl Landel and Lee Landel and a brother-in-law, Francis Linder. Services will be 4 PM Sunday October 12, 2025 at Lakewood Park Baptist Church, 5555 CR 29, Auburn, IN 46706. Calling is 2 hours prior to the service from 2 to 4 PM at the church Sunday.
