Peter Griseta Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Joseph Griseta, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and devoted member of the Simpsonville community, who departed this life on October 9, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Bari, Italy, on April 29, 1943, Peter lived a life enriched by family, faith, and service. A man of unwavering dedication, Peter was a proud mechanic, having honed his skills over many years at notable establishments including Fairway Ford, Golden Strip Automotive, and Kemet Electronics. Most of his life he was an avid hunter, forging strong bonds with family and friends. During his retirement years, he found great fulfillment in various community organizations in which he was passionately involved. Actively engaged in the Simpsonville Senior Center and the YMCA, he will be fondly remembered as "Cowboy Pete." Noted for his dancing, one would find Pete at a Zumba class or taking over the exercise class. He eagerly anticipated Saturday evenings spent dancing at the Woodruff Opry. Pete was an active and cherished member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, where he served faithfully as an usher and as a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. His dedication to his faith and his community was evident in all he did, and his spirit will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. Pete is survived by his beloved children, Joseph, Louis, Annie; his treasured grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Jade, Nicolas, and Jordon Griseta; his cherished great grandchildren, Brody, Brock, Daley, Zayden, Aurora, and Sage. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for his family. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Peter's life and share their memories during the visitations that will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. The first visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., and the second will be that evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 15th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church followed by burial in Graceland East Memorial Park. During this period of mourning, we acknowledge Peter for both his contributions and the generosity he consistently demonstrated throughout his life. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts. Friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Peter with the family by clicking on the button labeled "Share A Memory".
