Pauline Alford, 84, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Hector D. Aubrey and Annette Roulier Aubrey and the wife of James "Al" Olin Alford. Pauline retired from Spartanburg County District Five schools. During her career, she was at Berry Shoals, Wellford Academy, Abner Creek, D.R. Hill Middle School and assisted in the opening of Florence Chapel Middle School. She was a member and former president of the SCAEOP and she was a member of the NAEOP. Pauline was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church for 31 years. Pauline enjoyed quilting and creative quilt work, making quilts for Quilts of Valor, family and friends.
In addition to her husband James survivors include a son; James "Jim" Alford, and wife Cathi; two daughters; Angelina Christine Kendall, and Julie Elizabeth Runyan-Brown, and husband Corey; a brother, Norman Edward Aubrey, and wife Judy; a brother in law, Jackson C. Powell; eight grandchildren, Zachary Alford, Noah Kendall, and wife Shan, Brenna Alford, Claire Alise Runyan, Ashley Kendall, Nicholas James Runyan, Cadence Leigh Brown, and Dalton Hugh Brown; and two great grandchildren, Karsyn and Ivan Kendall.
She was predeceased by a sister, Cecile Denise Powell.
Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 26, 2025, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
The family will greet friends from 9:30am until 10:00 am, before the service.
Interment will be held at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Prayers and condolences to the Alford family. I am sad and shocked to hear of Paulines' passing, She was such a stand out lady in the church and will be missed by all. I thought she was the picture of good health when I last saw her with you at 9 am Sunday Mass just a few weeks ago.
I have a quilt of valor she made which I treasure and have on permanent display in my home.
Be assured I will be here for you. May God's Peace be with you during these difficult times. Rest in peace Pauline.
