Patsy Friar Obituary

Patsy "Pat" Friar, 92, passed away on August 31, 2025. A native of Greenville, SC, Pat was a daughter of the late Grady and Ruth Bryant. A proud graduate of Parker High School in 1951, where she was a Majorette, Pat went on to pursue her passion for caring for others. She earned her nursing degree from Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing and dedicated her career to the health care field, working as a registered nurse in the office of Dr. Edward Gaynor before retiring from Greenville Memorial Hospital. Her unwavering commitment to her patients was a testament to her kindness and grace. Pat was not only dedicated to her profession but was also an active member of her community, lending her support to the Hejaz Shrine and the Daughters of the Nile. Her spirit of giving extended beyond her work, and her warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A lifelong Clemson fan, Pat enjoyed rooting for her Tigers til the day she died. Go Tigers!! Pat is survived by her three children, Deborah Price, Scott Riggins (Margaret), and Pati Cooper (Mitch). Also surviving are her ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Riggins, her second husband, Avery Friar, her son, Monte Riggins, and a grandson, Christopher Riggins. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
