Owen Kissick Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Owen Thomas Kissick, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us far too soon. Having dedicated his life to Christ, Owen was baptized in August of 2023 and ended his journey on earth on Thursday, May 22, 2025. His vibrant spirit and 1000-watt smile brought joy to everyone he encountered, and his ability to charm those around him was truly remarkable. Owen had a unique gift for making friends wherever he went, never meeting a stranger, and his warmth and kindness will be deeply missed.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina on March 18, 2008, to Mike and Amy Kissick, Owen was a shining light in their lives and the lives of his family. In addition to his loving parents, he leaves behind a devoted big brother, Riley, and grandmother, Brenda McCall, and many extended family members. Owen was preceded in death by his Papa, Alex McCall, and his Nana, Betty Kissick, who undoubtedly welcomed him home with open arms.
Owen had a passion for the outdoors, often found fishing or hunting, exploring nature, and enjoying the beauty of the world around him. He loved to swim and help out on his family's farm where he could operate large equipment and tend to the cows. A natural athlete, Owen excelled in basketball, ran cross-country, and recently started playing baseball. His strong work ethic and determination were evident in everything he pursued, whether on the court or in life. Having just completed his sophomore year at Southside High School, Owen was a valued part of his class and will be missed by the Tiger Family.
Beyond his athletic talents, Owen dreamed of a career in the military. His big heart led him to go out of his way to help anyone in need, whether welcoming a new kid moving into the neighborhood or rolling out a trash can for his neighbor. He embodied the true meaning of compassion and generosity, regularly demonstrated his love for family and friends, and approached each day with enthusiasm and a sense of humor. Owen had a fondness for wearing crazy socks, and he would do just about anything for a laugh, reminding us all to find joy in the little things.
As we remember Owen, let us celebrate the love he shared and the laughter he brought into our lives. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will forever be remembered for his kindness, his adventurous spirit, and his unwavering love.
