Ophelia Burbage Obituary
Born in Tylertown, MS, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Clara Belle Carden Adams.
Ophelia devoted her life to serving others, first as a waitress in the food industry, where her infectious smile and genuine kindness brought joy to everyone she met. She had a unique gift for making everyone feel special, never knowing a stranger, and was truly a friend to all. Her love for people extended beyond her work.
An ardent believer in her Baptist faith, Ophelia's strong spirit and compassion for others shone brightly in her daily life. She took great pleasure in sending heartfelt cards to friends and family, bringing comfort and smiles with each handwritten note. Her ability to connect with others through simple acts of kindness served as a beautiful testament to the love she carried within her.
She is survived by daughters Cheryl Annette Bates and Mary Gracie McAlister (Johnny); 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister, Bevie Ford.
She was preceded in death by her husband Heyward "Slim" Burbage; son, Walter Holcombe; grandson, Trevor Stevens; five sisters, and one brother.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Graceland Cemetery West.
