Nancy Bishop Hester Obituary

Nancy Lavinia Bishop Hester, 86, of Greenville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 10, 2025. Born in Greenville County, South Carolina and raised in the Poe Mill Community, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Edward and Grace Geneva LaFoy Bishop. Nancy was a graduate of Parker High School class of 1957 and President of the F.B.L.A. She worked at Winn Dixie in the offices and later worked for Greenville County School District in the cafeteria and as a bus driver. Nancy grew up a member of Poe Mill Baptist Church, and later became a lifetime member of Reedy River Baptist Church. She served as treasurer of Dorcus Sunday School Class and faithfully served in many other church ministries. In her leisure Nancy enjoyed many things and loved to participate in archery, sewing, and travel. She met and married her sweetheart Daniel (Dan) Hester and raised two sons together during their 59-year marriage. Nancy Bishop Hester is survived by two sons, David W. Hester and his wife, Lisa Edwards Hester, and Adam E. Hester; two granddaughters, Alexandria Hester and Addison Hester; and sister-in-law, B.D. Bishop. She loved her Lord, her church, and her family, and she was a lot of fun to be around. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was predeceased by a brother, Bobby E. Bishop. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Reedy River Baptist Church Cemetery.
