Mike Turner Obituary

Stiles Michael "Mike" Turner, 77, died peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025 surrounded by family and holding his daughters' hand. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Ret. Major William C. Turner and Estelle Cobb Turner. Mike graduated from Summerville High School as well as Limestone College. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy and spent four years on the USS John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier. Mike was retired from GE. He was of the Christian faith and loved the Lord with all his heart. Mike loved to cook and was always in the kitchen. A lifelong and passionate Clemson fan, you would find him in front of the TV every Saturday in the Fall cheering on his Tigers. He is survived by daughter, Lindsay Turner Fields (Eric), and their son, Ric; beloved companion and devoted partner, Dot Thompson, and her daughters, Julie Thompson Whelan (Jeff), Brittany Anderson, Taylor Newhouse (Will), and Mackenzie, who loved her "Papa Mike"; brothers-in-law, Roy Gillespie (Sandy) and Charles Gillespie (Dianne); as well as many nieces and nephews and their families, In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Gillespie Turner; brother, Frank Turner; special aunt and uncle, Paul and Myrl Bogan; and his in-laws, Ken and Alice Gillespie. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the memorial service at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Foothills Fentanyl Fight in honor of his niece, Emily Turner, or to your local mental health facility.
