Michael Keegan Obituary
Michael A. Keegan, 79, devoted husband of the late Donna Keegan, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Born in East Meadow, NY, he was the son of the late William and Alice Olawsky Keegan.
Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He earned the rank of Captain, exemplifying steadfast leadership and commitment during his time in service. Following his military career, Michael became a skilled truck driver, contributing to the transport industry with his hard work and commitment to excellence. His journey led him to call Greenville, South Carolina, his home, where he found community and connection.
Michael took great joy in exploring the open road, which was a testament to his adventurous spirit. Michael shared many memorable vacations with his wife, spending time in their camper in the picturesque lakes of upstate New York, where he enjoyed fishing.
Michael was a true New York sports enthusiast, his heart forever aligned with the Giants, Yankees, and Rangers. His loyalty to his teams brought him joy and connected him with fellow fans, reflecting his vibrant personality and passion for life.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Elizabeth Jane Miller; his devoted brother, William Keegan (Maryann); and his cherished nieces, Susan A. Miller, Raina Keegan, Linda Murphy, and Kristin Ossip; nephews, Peter Lozowski, Richard L. Miller Jr., and William and Robert Keegan, along with several great nieces and nephews who will carry his memory close to their hearts. Michael's spirit will be remembered as a beacon of generosity and kindness, reflecting the many lives he touched during his time with us.
He was predeceased by his wife, Donna; parents, William and Alice Olawsky Keegan; and sister, Sandra Mazzarelli.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites heartfelt contributions to local veterans' organizations in Michael's memory, further honoring his legacy of service and commitment to others.
A private burial with Military Honors will be held at a later date in a Veteran's Cemetery.
Though he may have departed from this world, the love and memories of Michael will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, celebrated and remembered fondly by all those lucky enough to have met him.
