Mavis Eledge Obituary

Mavis Wortman Eledge, 96, wife of the late Carroll Thomas Eledge, went to be with the Lord on October 31,2025. She was born on January 12, 1929, in Cherokee County, South Carolina to the late Doctor Calvin "D.C." Wortman and Nancy Crain Wortman. The family later moved to Greer where she attended Greer High School and was a majorette. Mavis was a retired employee of Duke Power and later Coggin's Insurance Company. She was a Faithful member of First Baptist Church Lyman, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and Joy Fellowship. Surviving are her daughter, Sandra E. Peacock (Ed) of Lyman; five grandchildren, Todd Peacock (Anna Marie) of Lyman, Amy Mullinax (Daniel) of Campobello, Steven Peacock (Anna) of Lyman, Kelly Alley (Ryan) of Lyman, and Christy Jimenez (George) of Landrum; nine great-grandchildren, Colton (Alexa), Dawson, Samantha, Slade, Gracie, Carly, Evan, Emma Brooke, and Logan; and two great-great grandchildren Avery and Rylee. She was predeceased by her son, Philip Chris "Phil" Eledge; daughter, Karen Elizabeth Eledge; three brothers; and nine sisters. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at First Baptist Church Lyman conducted by Rev. Bill Morris. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the church. The family would like to give a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Ashlan Village of Lyman and Hospice of Spartanburg. They did an amazing job and made Mavis feel so loved and cared for. We just can't thank everyone enough for the loving care she received. We also would like to say thank you to all her friends and church family for all the phone calls and cards and prayers.
