Maurice Rogers Obituary

With hearts filled with both sorrow and gratitude, we pause to honor the life of Maurice Antwane Rogers, affectionately known to family and friends as "Moe."

Maurice was born on August 26, 1976, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late Willie James Rogers and Deborah Alexander Rogers of Moore, South Carolina. He was raised in a home grounded in faith, sustained by hope, and filled with enduring love. A home that, when the end was drawing near, reflected the strength of his character.

Maurice attended Spartanburg County School District Six and proudly graduated from Paul M. Dorman High School in 1994. He later took coursework at Virginia College. As a child, Maurice played Little League football with the Omega Raiders and remained involved in football throughout his school years. Known for his humor, laid-back attitude, thoughtful insight, and genuine warmth, Maurice brought authenticity and heart to everything he did.

Maurice worked in the textile manufacturing industry for many years. A man of remarkable presence and easy charm, he truly enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved steaks and potatoes, especially his own signature seasoned steaks and chicken wings, along with his well-known family macaroni and cheese. Maurice enjoyed watching football and cheering on his favorite team, the Houston Texans. His infectious laughter, quick wit, and welcoming personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Maurice also had a deep love for music and entertainment. He was involved with Dark Water Entertainment, participated in club promotions, enjoyed video gaming, and took great interest in hip-hop culture, particularly battle rap. Wherever Maurice was present, there was energy, laughter, and a sense of belonging.

Maurice was known for providing care for his mother. Wherever she needed to go he would ensure that he made himself available to take her, be it driving her to her doctor's appointments, the grocery store, Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, or simply to go grab her a ginger ale, Maurice was known to be seen out and about with his mom, ensuring that she had her day to day and weekly needs met. If ever his mother needed to be somewhere, they knew that her "Driver," Maurice, would be the one to get her there and back.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Ola Mae Alexander, and his paternal grandparents, Leroy Sr. and Pearl Giles Rogers.

Maurice leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Deborah Rogers of Moore, SC; his four loving daughters, DeBresia L'Kaie Rogers of Spartanburg, SC, Specialist SaMaurah Marena Smalls, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and currently deployed to Trzebien, Poland, Destiny Monae Williams of Spartanburg, SC, and Dalia "Le Le" Jenae Miller of Spartanburg, SC. He is also survived by his siblings, Dexter "CC" Rogers of Moore, SC, and Deidra A. Rogers of Johnson City, TN; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were richly blessed by his presence.

Maurice transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, with his dearly beloved and special friend, Tawanna Murphy, by his side.

Maurice's deep baritone voice, larger-than-life presence, quiet strength, and gentle-giant spirit will be profoundly missed. His love, humor, and unforgettable personality will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him. Maurice's life was a life full of life itself, even on his worst days he found a way to find some sense of humor in the day or moment, as we all saw from his last post on Facebook. Maurice will surely be missed. And so we do not say goodbye, but farewell for now, until we meet again. Later, Maurice.
