Mattie Williams Obituary

Mattie Pearl Williams was born on November 21, 1952, to the late Lizzie Mae Shelton Tate and the late Otis P. Tate, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was educated in the Spartanburg County School System. After many years of dedicated service, she retired from North Grove Rehabilitation. Mattie loved spending time with her family and friends. She had a true passion for cooking and poured love into every meal she prepared. She was known for her big heart and her ability to love deeply. Mattie enjoyed decorating, bringing beauty and creativity into every space she touched. She also loved shopping and always kept it real. She was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved all shades of green. Mattie was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her son, Videl Williams. She leaves a lifetime of love and memories to her husband, Cephus Williams of the home; children, Carlos (Alicia) Williams and Cephina (Nathan Jr.) Harris, both of Spartanburg, SC, and Cephus Williams of Inman, SC; sibling, Jeroline Foster of Spartanburg, SC; twenty-three grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; nephew reared in the home, Jimmy Cheeks; niece reared in the home, Codi Davis; goddaughter reared in the home, Mandy Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. On Thursday, October 9, 2025, Mattie transitioned at the Spartanburg Medical Center. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
