Masako Jones Obituary
Masako "Judy" Jones, 92, of Mauldin, wife of William "Chiles" Jones, died Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
Born in Hachinohe, Japan, she was the eldest of seven children of the late Saburo and Naka Shiraishi. Judy met her husband while he was deployed in Japan and they traveled to different parts of the world with the Air Force. While living in Mauldin, SC she became a member of Glendale Baptist Church.
Judy is remembered as a strong woman, stubborn in her ways, and one with many talents.
Judy kept her problems close to her heart as to not weigh on the lives of others. However, she offered help to others whenever she could. Judy further endeared her loved ones with her straightforward advice and words, not one to sugarcoat her opinions when speaking.
Judy loved art in its many forms. Her career was centered around fashion and design, being a talented seamstress and owner of Unique Fabrics and Sewing Center in Simpsonville. She also enjoyed painting, making porcelain dolls, and doing other arts and crafts to hone her talents. Her love for the arts and designing also fed into her skills in the kitchen and outside in her yard. Her other passions in life included playing volleyball on the church team and bowling, for fun and in tournaments. She was always wanting to do something with her hands and showed it throughout her life.
She is survived by daughter, Deborah Snyder (Dewayne); grandchildren, Matthew Snyder (Logan) and Ashley Snyder; brothers, Mitsuo Shiraishi and Yoshio Matsui; sisters, Namiko Miura and Yoko Shiraishi; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kunio Shiraishi and Toshio Shiraishi.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Glendale Baptist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
