Mary Koenig Obituary
Mary Jo graduated from Mohawk High School, Class of 1969, and then furthered her education at St. John College where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She used her nursing skills and experience joining the U.S. Army to care for our soldiers as an operating room nurse. Mary Jo was an honorably discharged veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After her military service, Mary Jo worked as a public health nurse and retired
from the Miami County Health Department.
Mary Jo married the love of her life, Gary Michael Koenig, at Fort Knox, Kentucky on June 14, 1980. Together they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.
Mary Jo was a kind, caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Westerville, Ohio. Mary Jo devoted her life to the Lord and her family. She will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Gary Koenig; sons, Gary (Christine) Koenig, Jr. and Adam (Dana) Koenig; grandchildren, Corinne, Gary "Tripp" III, Andrew "Drew," Connor, and Madelyn; sister, Gayle (Robert) Fiorenza.
On Monday, September 8, 2025, a visitation will take place from 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 313 N. State Street, Westerville, Ohio 43082, with a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 A.M. with Father Kevin Girardi officiating. The Mass will, also, be streamed online at: https://www.youtube.com/@st.paultheapostlecatholicc2045/streams.
Interment with military honors will follow that same day, September 8, 2025 at 2:45 P.M. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio 44273.
