Mary Harris Obituary

Mary Thomas Harris, 73, wife of the late Phil Allen Harris, passed away April 19, 2025.
A native of Greenville, South Carolina, daughter of the late Harley Aaron and Lida Elizabeth "Betty" Duncan Thomas, she was a retired employee of Steel Heddle and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Mary was a 1970 graduate of Parker High School where she was senior class president and soon after married her husband Phil on June 27, 1970. She was the previous music director for Poe Baptist Church, Greenville, South Carolina, Franklin Baptist Church, Greer, South Carolina, and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Greer, South Carolina. Mrs. Harris loved her babies and was a proud Momma and Mimi, she never ended a phone call to her kids without saying, "kiss my babies and tell them I love them". Momma, we love you MORE!
Surviving are her children, Matthew Harris and Angel H. Tansill (Scott) both of Greenville, South Carolina; two sisters, Brenda Odom of Taylors, South Carolina and Wanda Ponthieux (Mike) of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Grace, River, and Sterling; and a great grandchild, Jasper.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Riverside Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chris Jackson and Rev. Nick Ballenger. Burial will follow in Grace Cemetery West.
Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the church.
The family will be at their respective homes.
