Marvin Chastain Obituary

Marvin Chastain, 79, husband of Tresea Chastain, died Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born in Pickens, he was the son of the late Joe Landis and Alma E. Stevens Chastain. Mr. Chastain served his country as a member of the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Ray Walker Trucking Company, Inc. while owning Papa's Towing. He was raised in George's Creek Church of God in Easley and loved listening to Southern Gospel Music. You often overheard him whistling to the theme song from the Andy Griffith Show. Marvin enjoyed helping other people and would often step up to lend a hand to those in need. In his spare time, Marvin enjoyed visiting Pigeon Forge, TN and spending time watching dirt track racing. He loved all types of cars! He was a loving father, grandfather, surrogate father and great friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Marvin is survived by six sons, Marvin (Angie), Marty (Jodi), Michael, Steven, and Keith (Margaret) Chastain and Ricky West; four daughters, Jennifer Waters, Tonya Blackshire, Crystal Lee and Sabrina Baldwin; sister, Wanda Woody; 29 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Hamby; two sisters, Carolyn Chapman and Mary Morris; and two brothers, Larry and Jimmy Chastain. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial to follow the service in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671. Family and friends will gather at 220 Rutledge Lake Rd., Greenville, SC 29617 on the following dates and times: Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, October 22, 2025 following the service.
