Donna Nation Obituary

Donna Jean (Koleske) Nation, 86, of Peru, formerly of Rochester, IL. passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru, IL. Donna was born in Springfield, IL. on February 2, 1939, the daughter of William "Red" and Evelyn (Gebhardt) Koleske. She was raised in what is known as the Cabbage Patch in the South end of Springfield. She graduated from Feitshans High School in 1957. She then went on to work at New Modern Machine Products for 2 years. She then went on to work for Franklin Life Insurance Company for 28 years, and later worked at Judy's Hallmark Store part time for 5 years as well as the New City Nursery. Donna married Frances "Buck" Nation in May pf 1958 and he preceded her in death in 2005. She enjoyed the country life and country music. Donna was a Rex Allen fan for many years and a devoted member of his fan club. She loved animals and traveling, going on many bus trips around the country. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and being around her family. Donna was a member of the New City Community Church and was very strong in her faith and loved helping any and every one she could. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Norman. Donna is survived by her sons, Mark (Robin) of Peru and William "Bill" of Pawnee; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Charlene Ontis of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Saturday October 11, from 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00PM at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. in Rochester. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in Pawnee. Memorial contributions may be made to the New City Community Church. Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.
