Marilyn Russell Obituary

Marilyn Bevington Russell went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2025, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted follower of Christ, Marilyn's life was marked by faith, service, and compassion. She began playing the organ at Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle at the age of 10 and continued to serve faithfully for many years, using her musical gifts to glorify God. She loved church music, sharing the gospel, and living a life that reflected her deep love for the Lord. Marilyn was also a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse. She worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years, primarily in cardiac care, and later in life served in phone triage before retiring in 2015. Following her retirement, she moved to the Greenville, South Carolina area to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. She was a beloved member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Taylors, SC, where she continued to serve and worship faithfully. One of Marilyn's favorite Bible verses was Isaiah 26:3, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her sons, Bill and Bryan; and her cherished grandchildren, Brayden and Bryleigh. Her life was a testimony of grace, devotion, and love-and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown followed by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, or Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle.
