Margaret Manning Obituary
Margaret Esther Creamer Manning passed away on September 3, 2025, after a life beautifully lived and richly shared with all who knew her.
Born in 1935, in Williamston, South Carolina, Margaret was the daughter of David O. and Ethel Lee Young Creamer.
She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Manning, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Together, they served their country through the United States Air Force and built a loving family that became the center of her world. She was the devoted mother of three children, Elaine Garner, Melinda Wagner (Donnie), and Arthur Dwyane Manning (Nancy), the cherished grandmother to David Manning (Christina), Daniel Hamby (Jessica), Derek Hamby (Lauren), and Jesse Garner (Esther); great-grandmother to Christopher Manning (Leslie), Kirkland Manning (Melly), McKenzie Dobrin, Drew and Dean Hamby, Reese and Cora Hamby, and Kristen Garner. Margaret was fortunate to know the joy of being a great-great-grandmother to Cooper Manning and Mabel June Manning.
A woman of unwavering faith, Margaret's strong Christian beliefs guided her every step and inspired all who knew her. Her generous spirit shone through her countless volunteer hours at her grandchildren's school. A wall of awards proclaims her dedication to service with gratitude from the entire Welcome Elementary School community.
One of Margaret's many gifts was making everyone feel at home, most notably through her home cooking that brought family and friends together around countless meals. Her kitchen was truly the heart of her home, filled with laughter, love, oatmeal crème pies, and the most delicious aroma of homemade biscuits in a cast-iron skillet.
Margaret's family lovingly referred to her as their "Queen". Nanny found joy in life's simplest pleasures. She always had time to rock her grandbabies. She was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and an avid reader with shelves full of books. She delighted in the beauty of orchids. She spent peaceful hours watching and feeding the birds in her yard, finding wonder in God's creation.
Above all, Margaret will be remembered for her boundless love for her family, her warm smile, her generous heart, and her ability to make everyone feel special and loved. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m., on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. Burial to follow the service in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
