Linwood Ackerman Obituary

James Linwood Ackerman, Sr., 87, of Greenville, South Carolina, husband of the late Sandra Gardner Ackerman, passed away July 10, 2025. A native of St. George, South Carolina, son of the late Clement and Virginia Jordan Ackerman, he was a graduate of St. George High School Class of 1956, a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served from 1956 until 1962, a 1964 graduate of Clemson University, and of the Methodist faith. He retired from Fluor Daniel having worked from 1966 until 2012. His work took him across the globe; one notable stop was in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1979, where he and his family lived for four years. Linwood was a friend to everyone, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed working in the yard, with his beloved dog, Luke. Surviving are one son, Jay L. Ackerman of Atlanta, Georgia and one daughter, Holly Ackerman of Inman, South Carolina. He was predeceased by three brothers, Wallace Ackerman, Cutter Ackerman and Charles Ackerman. A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date.
