Linda Owens Obituary
Linda Lunny Owens, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Born on Saturday, July 31, 1954, in Greenville, South Carolina, Linda brought warmth, love, and joy to everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
A devoted and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant, Linda dedicated her professional life to serving children in need through her work in pediatric care. Her gentle spirit, patience, and unwavering kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and countless young lives.
Linda's heart for service and deep commitment to helping others extended well beyond her career. A faithful member of Church of St. Andrew United Methodist in Toledo then Utica United Methodist Church, she was deeply engaged in community outreach. From bible schoolteacher and school lunch summer programs to women's bible study leader and fundraising for "Food for The Hungry" in Knox County Ohio, her life was a beautiful expression of faith and filled with compassion.
Outside of her service, Linda was an avid reader and found great joy in cross-stitching, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Her laughter was infectious, and her nurturing presence made every gathering feel special.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Leroy F. Owens Jr, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion and companionship. She is also survived by her cherished daughter, Ellen M. Owens; her loving siblings, Dawn Suggs and James (Jim) D. Lunny Jr (Louanne); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Defoy Lunny and Margaret Ellen (Belue) Lunny, whom she now joins in eternal peace.
Linda Ann (Lunny) Owens was celebrated in Ohio by friends and family on June 17th and will be laid to rest in Greer SC where she grew up on July 17th. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion, service, and unconditional love lives on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
A celebration of life will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday July 17th, 2025, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens,14050 E Wade Hampton Blvd, Greer, SC 29651, followed by open fellowship and refreshments at Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 N Main St., Greer, SC 29650.
