Linda Hamby Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Linda Faye Hamby, affectionately known to many as "Meemaw," age 66 of Greenville. Linda, the beloved wife of 41 years to the late Donnie "Buck" Stancil, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 1, 2025. To know Linda was to be loved by her, she had a way of making everyone feel like family. Her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit touched all who met her. Whether through a kind word, a warm hug, or her unwavering support, Linda made the world a brighter, better place simply by being in it. Linda's joy was contagious, her kindness boundless, and her love for others steadfast. Whether you were family by blood or bond, Linda made you feel seen, valued, and loved. Linda is survived by her two beloved daughters, Tina Lewis (Christopher Lewis) and Denise "Deedee" Stephenson (Jason Stephenson); seven grandchildren, Stacia Richards (Kyle), Destiny Bishop, Joseph "Dontae" Hufflin (Bre), Tyler Hart, Skylar Hart, Jason Jr. "Fat Man"; 14 great-grandchildren, Anna, Amya, Aiden, Jaiden, Vinny, Natalie, Johnny, Desiree, Madelyn, My'Angel, Bri'Keal, Bo, Sophie, and Jonathan; and her sisters, Julie Wallen, Christy Dufrene, and Beth Hale (Josey). She also leaves behind many others whom she welcomed into her heart as extended grandchildren, including Steven "Allen" Malone (Hannah), Sturgess Wilson, Elijah Williams, Hannah Murphree, Chandler Marchbanks, and Bryson Shelton, and she loved each of them as her own. Linda was a devoted and cherished Meemaw to her precious grandchildren, and her love knew no bounds as it extended to her role as a proud great-grandmother. Her family was everything to her and she was to them. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brothers, Tony Arnold and Michael "Mickey" Fox; her granddaughter, Sabrina; and her great-grandson, AJ. Linda's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her. A visitation will be held Friday, September 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel, with burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery West.
