Linda Baxley Obituary
Linda Stone Baxley passed away peacefully in the early hours of July 10, 2025.
Born in Florence, South Carolina, Linda was the youngest of four daughters of Bill and Marie Stone. She graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1968 and went on to pursue a career in nursing, driven by her deep compassion and love for serving others. She earned her nursing degree from the University of South Carolina in Florence in 1971. Linda loved being a nurse and held a wide variety of roles throughout her decades-long career as a registered nurse.
On February 21, 1981, Linda married the love of her life, Andy Baxley, and gained a beloved sister-in-law, Rachel Price (Jimmy). Though a proud USC nursing graduate, Linda crossed party lines and became a loyal Clemson fan after falling in love with Andy - proof that love really does conquer all. Together they welcomed three children, Anderson, Amy, and Alex. Their greatest joy was spending time as a family, especially on fall Saturdays filled with tailgating, laughter, and cheering on the Tigers with friends and loved ones.
Linda had a green thumb and a creative soul. She was active in garden clubs in North Augusta and later in Greenville. In addition to being a long-time member of the church choir at First Baptist North Augusta, she expressed her creativity in many ways - cooking, floral arranging, china painting, and in her later years, doll painting with dear friends at Taylors First Baptist--a project they lovingly did to support missions. Her gift for hospitality was unmistakable; she could make any space feel warm, welcoming, and beautiful.
Above all, Linda was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She faithfully served the local church in every season of life, including at First Baptist Church North Augusta, Taylors First Baptist, Grace Church, and NewSpring Church. She often said she was "born to greet," and it showed in the warmth she extended to everyone who walked through the doors. Over the years, she poured herself into many areas of ministry - from teaching Sunday School and leading children's choir, to helping with VBS and GAs - always with a servant's heart and a joyful spirit.
To her life partner and husband, she was "Sweetie"; to her three children, "Mom"; to her five grandchildren, "Mimi"; and to countless others who loved her, simply "Miss Linda." Her warm smile and exuberance for life will be deeply missed.
She is now joyfully reunited with her husband, her parents, all three of her sisters, and many cherished family and friends who have gone before her.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Taylors First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends until 12:00 p.m. following the service. Burial will be private.
