Lewis Bowers Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lewis Wade Bowers, who left us on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on February 15, 1968, in Greenville, SC, Lewis was a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. He made his home in Taylors, SC, where he enjoyed sharing laughter and love with those around him. Lewis was known for his hardworking and dedicated spirit. He approached every challenge with a smile and a can-do attitude, leaving a legacy of resilience and positivity that will be cherished by all who knew him. Lewis began working at Lancaster Distributing in 1987 where he excelled and eventually became the owner in 2015. Often known as the life of the party, Lewis could be found sharing a story and a good laugh with those around him. Lewis was also a huge fan of racing and enjoyed competing in his own car at the local racetracks. He also enjoyed taking time to fish and always enjoyed taking a chance on the lottery. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 30 years, Tracy Bowers; his devoted mother, Myra Howard; stepfather, David Howard; his daughter, Zoe Bowers (Jeff); son, Brandon Picklesimer; his two amazing grandsons, Emery and Samuel; brothers, Roger Edens (Lynn) and Henry Howard; sister, Charmin Howard, and nieces and nephews. Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Buford Bowers. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. at Northwood Baptist Church. A funeral will immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northwood Baptist Church. Lewis was a pleasure to know. He taught me to love dirt track racing and I enjoyed just being around him to listen to the stories about his racing experiences and his life in general.. I will miss that.
God bless his family..
He was my friend

I met Lewis at a NASCAR All-Star event some 30 years ago. After talking for a minute we realized we were also race fans of Cherokee And I-85 Speedways and so it began as race buddies that basically turned into being like brothers. We took many racing trips together but I think the one we enjoyed the most was Venturing out to the Mad House to see the modifieds on asphalt. As everyone knows Lewis always felt like asphalt was just a way to get to a dirt track. Thank you for allowing me to watch Zoe grow up and Charim and Tracy for being by our side on most all of our racing ventures.
