Lecil Wilbanks Obituary

Lecil Donever Wilbanks, 84, of Greer, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in the comfort of his beloved wife and son. He loved his family dearly and was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and Pop Pop. Lecil was a dedicated employee of Faith Printing, where he worked faithfully for 50 years under the leadership of Dr. James "Jimmy" Thompson. During his time there, he encountered many influential Christian leaders - his favorite being Jimmy Swaggart. He was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church, where he was part of the Lane Solesbee Sunday School Class. Lecil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Langley Wilbanks; his son, Todd Wilbanks (Amy) of Alpharetta, Georgia; and his cherished grandchildren, Noelle and Langley, who affectionately knew him as Pop Pop. He is also survived by his siblings, Bobbie Tucker (Ronnie), Louise Few, Brenda Collins (John), and his only brother, Rex Wilbanks (Ann). He was preceded in death by his parents, Smiley G. and Pearl Smith Wilbanks, and six sisters, Kathryn Hill, Connie Nelson, Rownie Caldwell, Frances Langley, Emily Southern, and Marcell Lynn Sloan. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary conducted by Dr. Gene Lockaby. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Nelson, Michael D. Sandlin, Ronnie Few, Gregg Moore, Tim Lynn, and Sean Collins. Honorary escorts will include members of the Lane Solesbee Sunday School Class, as well as members of the Blue Ridge High School Class of 1958. Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary. The family will be at the home.
