Lawson Scoggins Obituary

Robert "Lawson" Scoggins, 83, devoted husband of Linda Dale Vaughn Scoggins for 64 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Mr. Scoggins was born in Greenville to the late James Robert Scoggins and Bessie Frances Banks Scoggins. Lawson attended Clemson University for Business. "Poppi", as many knew him by in his later life, had a gift for story- telling. He was an avid Clemson Tigers fan and loved the game of golf. As a long- time member of Fox Run Country Club since 1974, he served on the board for many years, where he made a hole-in-one on #11 with his grandson, Parker. Lawson was dedicated to promoting the Mauldin Chamber of Commerce golf tournaments for fundraisers and involved in the Rotary Club for many years. Lawson was a successful business owner of Professional Catering, ABS Cakes and Candies, Skate World, and Roller Sports as well as many commercial and residential rental properties throughout his career. A long-time member of First Baptist Simpsonville where he created the "Angel Room" helping those who were in life transition with a new start in life. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Michele Neeley with husband Nick; a son-in-law, Derek Larsen; four grandchildren, Hunter Larsen, Parker Neeley, Kalen Larsen, and Taylor Neeley; and a beloved caregiver Hannah Dias. He was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Larsen. A celebration of Lawson's life will begin at 2 o'clock Sunday, September 7th in the chapel of Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials in honor of Lawson may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
