Kay Branon Obituary

Kay Castilow Branon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on September 6, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 90. Born in Glendale, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harry K. Castilow and Olga Roberts Castilow. She graduated Penn High School, PA and attended the University of West Virginia before beginning a life of devotion to family and community. For the past 40 years, Greenville was her cherished home. Alongside her husband of 61 years, David Reid Branon, Kay built a life rooted in love. She took great joy in raising her family, helping build businesses with David, and filling her home with warmth, laughter, and her steady presence. She was a brilliant woman who excelled as Director of Marketing at Slazenger Golf USA, which provided the opportunity to travel the world. Kay's life was one of joy, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. She delighted in gatherings of family, holidays filled with traditions, and the simple everyday moments that became treasured memories. She is survived by her husband, David; her daughters Pam Huch LeNeave of Greenville, SC, and Kimberly Branon Plaziak and husband, John Martin Plaziak, of Alpharetta, GA; and was preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Huch Reynolds. She leaves behind five grandchildren who were the pride of her heart: Kayce LeNeave Sams (Justin), Tory Reynolds, Taylor Reynolds Menke (Alex), Bradley David Plaziak, and Kaitlyn Kay Plaziak, as well as seven beautiful great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy; and two brothers, Clyde Castilow and Neil Castilow. Her life was a testament to the beauty of love and family, and her legacy will live on in the generations she so dearly cherished. The family will receive friends at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, 639 N. Main Street, Greenville, SC on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A private family burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
