Karin Griffin Obituary

Karin "Katy" Griffin passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on September 12, 1942, in Greenville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth Lark Hamby.
Katy spent her life in the same community that shaped her fondest memories and passions. She dedicated many years of her professional career as a Property Appraiser to the Greenville County Tax Assessor's Office, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the community she served.
Katy embraced her passion for the arts, often expressing herself through painting, which reflected what was truly in her heart. An avid boater and skier earlier in life, Katy had spent many delightful days at Lake Hartwell, enjoying the sun, water, and the music that filled her heart with joy.
Her home was filled with a unique blend of Asian decor and design, adding a touch of her artistic spirit to her surroundings. Her love extended to animals, including her beloved cat Mr. Black, and her neighbor's dog, Tux.
She found joy in the melodies of the blues and rock and roll, particularly those of the Creedence Clearwater Revival with John Fogerty.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lisa Davis (Steven); sister, Patricia Johnson; nephew, Lance Johnson; and grandniece Charlotte Johnson; as well as many cousins and countless friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul "Buddy" Hamby, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, 6710 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611, on July 15th, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. Casual attire. The families will return to their respective homes after the service.
