Joyce Corley Obituary

Joyce Rhyne Corley, died on August 26, 2025, in Greenville, SC. Born on May 18, 1938, Joyce was the cherished daughter of Baptist minister Ralph Rhyne and grew up deeply rooted in faith. She dedicated her life to nurturing young minds, sharing her passion for learning as a beloved kindergarten teacher in public schools and church settings, including Laurel Baptist Church, Sirrine Elementary, and Grove Road Elementary. Joyce's warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew her, with "sweet" being the most common remark made about her. Her strong faith guided her through life, and she lived out her values through her love for family, friends, and her beloved cat, Bootsie, who was her quirky companion. She had a flair for fashion and she loved flowers. As a devoted mother to her sons, Joel and Nate Corley (Donna), and a loving grandmother to Emma Myers (Matt) and Lora Shubert (Jack), Joyce's family was her pride and joy. She maintained a special bond with her older sister, Margaret (Sissy) Dorn, often sharing daily conversations that strengthened their connection. Joyce leaves behind not only her immediate family but also a niece and 2 nephews. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held on September 2, 2025, beginning with a visitation at First Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Private entombment at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Hodges, SC, to follow. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen Rhyne. In lieu of flowers: 1st Presbyterian Church Missions.
