John Maddox Obituary

John "Johnny" Willard Maddox, Jr., 81, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 20, 2025. Born on September 24, 1943, in Augusta, Georgia, Johnny was the only child of the late John Willard Maddox, Sr. and Veda Reville Maddox. Johnny attended Augusta University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1967. After graduation, he worked as a consultant in the apparel industry for almost 30 years before opening his own business, L & J Camera Repair, which he successfully ran as a sole proprietor for over a decade. In addition to his love for photography, Johnny also was a passionate audiophile, avid golfer, and lover of hot dogs. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lynda Jones Maddox, and his two sons, John "Jay" Willard Maddox, III and Nelson Christopher "Chris" Maddox. He is also survived by his cherished cousin, Bonnie Jean Hayes. No formal services will be held. The family plans to hold a private gathering to remember Johnny's life at a later date. in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church via their online gift portal at https://www.hillcrestbaptistaugusta.org/give. Friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Johnny with the family by clicking on the button labeled "Share A Memory".
