John Wesley Lawson, Jr., 75, beloved husband of Prudence Lawson, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
Born in
Ayer, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late John and Marcianna Leszyk Lawson.
John was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him. Known affectionately as a "techno cowboy," he dedicated his life to electrical engineering. Throughout his career, he worked as a project manager and contractor for the U.S. military, serving in Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iraq, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Newfoundland.
A man of strong faith, John served as an elder at Golden Strip Church of Christ. He lived his life with purpose, always striving to serve others and lead by example.
John found great joy in traveling, playing golf, and making memories with his family. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with those he loved most.
He will be remembered for his generous heart, kind spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, he is survived by daughters, Kristine McCarrell (Mike), Cheris Scott, and Karin Andrews (Randy); son, Mark Schramm (Michelle); brothers-in-law, John Page (Sandy), Rohn Harmer, Jeff Page, and Jim Page; grandchildren, Christopher Schramm (Jessica), Scott Andrews (Jessica), Paige Adams (Mitch), Mathew Schramm, Mason Bonner, Bryan Andrews, Will Schramm, Logan Scott, and Taylor Scott; great-grandchildren, Luca, Olivia, Brody, Jordan, Evelyn, Sadie; and lifelong friend, Toney Henry and his wife, Sherry.
A celebration of life to honor John, will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at Golden Strip Church of Christ in
Simpsonville, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Golden Strip Church of Christ, 713 NE Main St.,
Simpsonville, SC 29681.
