John Curry Obituary
John Charles Curry Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died on October 7, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on July 22, 1935, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, son of the late John Charles Curry Sr. and Marguerite Gene (Twilley) Curry. Charles was a man of remarkable character and accomplishments, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication.
Charles received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology, where he studied engineering and demonstrated leadership as president of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. Following his education, he honorably served in the U.S. Naval Reserves, embodying the values of duty and service to his country.
On September 23, 1961, he married his beloved wife, Grace Lynn Ouzts, and together they built a life filled with joy and shared values. Following a successful stint at a consulting firm in Atlanta, Georgia, Charles co-founded Roberts, Curry & Company in Greenville, South Carolina, where he made significant impacts in the consulting industry.
As a lifelong member of the Greenville Country Club and the Dirty Dozen golf group, Charles had a passion for golf, often enjoying the sport with his friends and family. He was a passionate Georgia Tech fan throughout his life and avidly followed their progress each season. He valued family time and created fond memories traveling with his grandchildren on Elderhostel trips, embodying a spirit of adventure and love as a devoted grandfather.
A man of deep faith, Charles was an active member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church and hosted Truth Project Bible Study meetings at his home. When previously attending Trinity Methodist Church, Charles taught Sunday School, led Bible studies, and coached his daughter's youth basketball team, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many young athletes.
He was also an engaging and amiable individual, known for his sociable nature and treasured friendships, including regular Tuesday lunches with friends. Charles was an active member of the Poinsett Club and enjoyed visiting Hilton Head, Litchfield Beach, and a variety of international locations.
Charles is survived by wife Grace Lynn Ouzts Curry; a daughter, Twilley Delligatti and her husband Michael Delligatti; a daughter-in-law, Kay Curry; three grandsons, James Delligatti, Christian Delligatti, Chas Curry; a brother-in-law, Dallas Little and his family; and many members of the Ouzts Family.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Charles Curry III; a granddaughter, Lillian Grace Curry; and a sister, Marty Curry Little.
A private burial will be held for family at Woodlawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church in Greenville.
