John Bussey Obituary

John Henry Bussey, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025. He was born on November 18, 1945 to the late John and Bessie Bussey. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War receiving a Purple Heart and retired from Timken of Honea Path. He loved music and when he was younger could be found serving as a DJ for family gatherings and parties. After retiring, John had more time to pursue his passion for fishing. He also enjoyed gardening which provided fresh vegetables for family and friends. Surviving are daughters, Renodia (Josh) Leake of the home, Latory (Donald) Anderson of Waterloo, SC, and Keisha (Michael) Stapleton of Ware Shoals, SC; two sisters, Viola (Johnny) Harper and Janice Martin; nine grandchildren, Gabrielle Bussey, Amiya Rapp, and Autumn Lee of the home, Quade Leake of Piedmont, SC, Brandarius and Nigel Patterson of Waterloo, SC, and Makayla, Airihanna, and Jaliyah Stepleton of Ware Shoals; goddaughter, Shenitra Patton of Fountain Inn, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by siblings, Donnie Bussey, Frank Davis, Louise Gladden, and Joe Nathan Fischer. A celebration of life with military honors will be held at Fletcher Funeral Service on Saturday, August 30, 2025 beginning at 1:00 pm. The family will visit with friends following the service.
