Joel Waddell Obituary
Joel was a shining light to all who had the privilege of getting to know him. His journey on this earth was marked by his love for Jesus, his passion for music that he used for Heavenly Praise, and his unwavering Faith, which showed his calling from God for the music ministry. His passing left a void in the heart of his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Lydia Waddell of the home; two daughters, Melissa Adams (Glenn) and Emily Brown (Phil); four grandchildren, Trey Adams, Lillian Sharp (Spencer), Joel Adams, and Henry Brown; two brothers, Toby Waddell and Frank Waddell; and two sisters, Joye Leopard and Jill Jacobs.
Mr. Waddell was predeceased by his parents, Tolbert Edward Waddell, Sr. and Sarah Aycock Waddell; and a brother, Louie "Lou" Waddell.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Washington Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Trent Henson. Burial will follow in White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1:00-1:45 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2025, Washington Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Baptist Church, Hammer and Nails, 3500 N. Highway 14, Greer, South Carolina 29651.

Hey Lydia.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. But of course, it is Heaven's gain. We loved him too and have many Joel stories. He left a legacy to his children and grandchildren I'm sure. I'm praying for you and your whole family. Blessings. Myra and Phil Blackwell

I have so many wonderful memories of Joel at Summerville Baptist. One of my favorite memories was on Sunday evenings he would always ask, "How many of you would rather be at _______ instead of here at church. It always brought a chuckle. Joel was always fun to be around, but he was also an encourager to everyone he was around. Praying for all of you as you go through this new journey. Love and prayers.
