Jim Bishop Obituary

Lewis James "Jim" Bishop, 92, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Born in Hastings, Michigan, he was the only child of the late Lewis Herbert Bishop and Janet Marie Maloney Bishop. Jim enjoyed life to the fullest and stayed active until the very end. He loved a good laugh and was always up for a bit of mischief. He especially enjoyed visiting the barn to spend time with the critters-horses, goats, pigs, and dogs alike. Jim kept himself busy walking, biking, and lifting weights, and he cherished every moment spent with his daughter, Becki, traveling across the country as she competed in horse shows. A natural craftsman, Jim even built his first home with his own hands. He loved listening to Irish music with a cold beer in hand and was a loyal friend who made every effort to stay in touch through the years. Jim's lifelong passion was football. He played his collegiate career at Albion College and semi-pro ball for the Racine Raiders in Wisconsin. Later, he became a beloved coach when blessed with grandchildren. His grands affectionately called him "Da," a name that soon spread among many of the kids he mentored. Jim selflessly poured into the young athletes he coached and loved cheering from the sidelines at every sporting event his grandchildren participated in. Jim is survived by his faithful puppy, Mr. Incredible (Inky); his daughter, Becki Halloran and husband Todd; his son, Thomas Bishop; seven grandchildren, Cody Halloran and wife Lindsay, Keegan Halloran and wife Olivia, Ariel Wing and husband Travis, Nick Moreno, Skyler Sears, Abby Sears, and Amelia Sears; and three great-grandchildren, Bentley Halloran, Alexis Wing, and Avery Moreno. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Scott Sears and wife Wendy, and the mother of his second daughter, Janet L. Nash. He was preceded in death by his first daughter, Belinda Sears. The family will hold a private gathering to celebrate Jim's life.
