Jerry Powell Obituary

Jerry E. Powell, 79, of Simpsonville, husband of Linda Cunningham Powell for 57 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 while at home surrounded by his family. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late James Rufus & Sara Elizabeth Calvert Powell. Mr. Powell was a long-time member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church. He served our country overseas in Korea as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. In addition to his wife, Linda, Mr. Powell is survived by their sons, Jason Powell (Leigh) of Hendersonville, and Jody Powell (Dalinda) of Greer; grandchildren, Callie Ploeger (Hayden), Jake Powell (Matthew), Natalie Powell, and Drew Powell; one great-granddaughter, Ruby Ploeger; and six brothers, Jimmy, Danny (Frankie), Steve (Joy), Randy, Kenny (Stephanie), and Barry Powell (Debbie). He was also preceded in death by one brother, Billy Powell. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the Fountain Inn First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Condy Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 2:00 pm at the church and following the service. Interment will be held in MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson on Monday, May 12 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: Touched by ALS
