Jerry Paxton Obituary

Steven Gerald "Jerry" Paxton, 70, husband of Darlene Frances James Paxton for 21 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Mr. Paxton – known as Pac to many friends – was born in Simpsonville to the late Douglas Jewel Paxton and Eula Joann James Paxton. He and Darlene were the founders and operators of Southern HVAC before he retired. Jerry enjoyed anything to do with Corvettes – whether he was fixing or driving one. However, his main interest was horses and trail-riding. He participated in team pinning whenever he could. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Stephen Edwards with wife Ashlee; a daughter, Kyndra Edwards; two brothers, Mike Paxton and Scott Paxton; five grandchildren, Brittany Kelly with husband Brandon, Haven Russell, Kayla Edwards, Brandon Bagwell, and Elijah Edwards; and four great-grandchildren, Jessi, Dakota, Dawson, and Luke. He was predeceased by a brother, Toby Paxton. A celebration of Jerry's life will begin at 6 o'clock Thursday at the place he was most comfortable – his barn! The location is 147 Berry Road in Pelzer. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials in Jerry's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
