James Seay Obituary

James David Seay, 100 years and 7 months young, husband of the late Katrine Heath Seay, passed away September 11, 2025. A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late Lowell Dean and Victoria Selena Gosnell Seay, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, a retired employee of Milliken, and a member of Apalache Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, James Rodney Seay and his wife, Susan of Chelsea, Alabama; a daughter, Sherry Jon Copeland and her husband, Victor of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Caroline Seay Long and her husband, Hayden, James Carson Seay and his wife, Maddie, Jonathan Phillip Elliott, and Zachary "Zach" David Turner; and great-grandchildren, Amelia Long, Darcy Long, Cooper Long, and William Robert Seay. He was predeceased by a brother, Buck and five sisters, Casey, Doris, Vivian, Margaret, and Marie. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Apalache Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Butch Howard. Memorials may be made to Apalache Baptist Church, 1915 Gap Creek Road, Greer, South Carolina 29651 or Liberty University, 1971 University Blvd., Lynchburg, Virginia 24515.
